What is Find and Replace Text?

Find and Replace Text searches text for a word, phrase, or regular expression and highlights matches without changing your text. Replace Current or Replace All applies your changes. It is useful for editing repeated names, terms, and formatting patterns in one controlled browser-based workspace.

Does Find and Replace Text upload my text? +

No. Matching, preview, and replacement run locally in your browser. Your text and TXT files are not sent to PotatoTools.

Can I replace only one match? +

Yes. Use the match navigation controls to select a match, then choose Replace. Replace all changes every current match at once.

Can I review matches before changing the source? +

Yes. The live preview highlights matches without changing their text. Replacement text appears only after you choose Replace or Replace all.

Does regex support capture groups? +

Yes. Turn on Regex and use capture references such as $1 or $<name> in the replacement field. Invalid or slow patterns show an inline error and can be changed safely.

Can I undo a replacement? +

Yes. Undo and redo are available for applied replacements during the current browser session. History is not saved after you leave the page.
