What is a HEX to RGBA Converter?

A HEX to RGBA Converter turns a HEX color such as #B45E62 into a CSS rgba() color with red, green, blue, and alpha opacity values. HEX stores the RGB color, while RGBA adds transparency control. Which HEX formats are supported? +

The tool supports #RGB, RGB, #RRGGBB, RRGGBB, #RRGGBBAA, and RRGGBBAA in uppercase or lowercase.

What happens when I paste 8-digit HEX? +

The first six digits are kept as the RGB color, the last two alpha digits are imported into the opacity control, and the HEX field is normalized to 6-digit HEX.

Why does 80 alpha show about 50.2% opacity? +

8-bit alpha uses byte values from 0 to 255. Hex 80 equals 128, and 128 divided by 255 is about 50.2%. The opacity display rounds to the nearest 0.1%.

Does changing opacity add alpha digits back to HEX? +

No. After an 8-digit paste, HEX remains the RGB color source and opacity remains the alpha source. The tool does not try to preserve byte-for-byte alpha round trips.

What happens if the HEX color is invalid? +

The result is cleared, copy is disabled, and the HEX field shows a short validation message until a valid color is entered.

Is my color data uploaded or stored? +

No. HEX to RGBA conversion runs locally in your browser during normal use. The color values are not sent to a server or saved by PotatoTools.
