Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about using this tool.

How do I generate another random color? +

Click New Color or press Space when focus is not inside a form control. Changing the Style select also generates a fresh color.

Can I copy the HEX code? +

Yes. Click the HEX Copy button or tap the main color swatch to copy the HEX value only.

Does the tool show RGB and HSL? +

Yes. Each generated color shows HEX, RGB, and HSL values derived from the same locked RGB color.

Can I generate pastel or dark colors? +

Yes. Use the Style select to choose Any, Bright, Pastel, Dark, or Light. Styled modes use intentional HSL ranges.

Are Any colors truly random? +

Any generates each red, green, and blue channel independently from 0 to 255 using browser crypto, so it can produce any 24-bit sRGB color.

Why can an Any color sometimes look unusual? +

Any is not adjusted to look pretty. Very dark, very light, muddy, or low-saturation colors are valid random sRGB results.

Are generated colors uploaded or stored? +

No. Random colors are generated locally in your browser. PotatoTools does not upload, store, or save generated color values.
